RJ Dance Studio is a professional quality, locally owned, established teaching studio serving Salem Oregon and the surrounding area since 1986, offering affordable dance instruction that makes sense. Social Dances, Group Classes and Private Lessons just for fun or in preparation for a special event such as an upcoming wedding.
Located in the beautifully renovated 1940’s dance studio upstairs in the Historical Pearce Building Cultural Center, downtown Salem.

What We Do
Group Classes –
1st Leg of the Stool – Group Classes are a practical and economical first leg of your Dance Journey. New class series are offered every month. Most Level 1 classes are appropriate for brand new dancers. Tweener/Level 2 classes are for those ready to move beyond their basics, while “Stuff” Workshops focus on the much needed but often neglected technical side of dance.
Private Lessons –
2nd Leg of the Stool – Private lessons, in addition to group classes, are an opportunity to receive one on-one attention and help. Private time is also an option for those who have irregular work schedules, or a schedules that conflicts with your partner therefore making it difficult to attend and complete a class series.
Social Dance –
3rd Leg of the Stool – And, it’s how you get better! Attending Social Dances is the perfect opportunity to work on what is being learned in class in a real dance environment. This is key to improvement. Dancing is a social activity. The Social Dances are a great time and place to connect with other dancers; meet, mix, encourage, share, dance with others all while building and supporting the local dance community.
Wedding Preparation –
Dancing is a part of almost every wedding, and particularly special for every First Dance. Unfortunately, dancing is often not planned and prepared for in advance like the other important aspects of your wedding celebration. To often, dance is an afterthought, if thought of at all….. until the Big Day, and that First Song when all eyes and cameras are on the two of you for that expected “First Dance“. Now what? !!
Whether a fully choreographed or a short, simple routine, your First Dance should be more than “Rock-in-a-Circle”. So, Start Early. Start Now. Include your friends and your entire wedding party to join you. Six to twelve months early is NOT too soon to start! Starting early allows you time and opportunity to learn how to dance together just for the fun of it as you get ready for your Big Day. That way, you will become an accomplished, comfortable and confident dancer beforehand, resulting a lifetime of dancing Date Night enjoyment after your wedding.
A Little About Our Pricing
Prices vary, but generally:
Group classes can cost as little as $30/hr per/couple x the number or weeks in the class series
Private one-on-one coaching lessons are $85/45-minutes per/couple
General Social Dances are just $10/person. This is where you put to use to improve on what you’re learning. Kind of like going to the gym, only a lot more fun.
Service Area
RJ Dance Studio is located in downtown Salem. All classes, lessons and social dances are held at the Studio location.
